A BIT ABOUT ME

Jo plays and coaches both squash and racketball, and started coaching eight years ago. The sport gives her a way to keep moving, keep learning, and stay connected to a community of players — and she now spends her coaching time, passing her joy of physical activity and squash, on to others.

Across eight years of coaching in Chesterfield and Sheffield, Jo has worked with juniors (5–17), adults, older adults, and players with learning and physical disabilities. She holds a Player Development Coach (Level 2) qualification, which means she can work with players at any level. Before coaching full-time, she spent thirty years as a GP in the NHS — experience that gives her real confidence working with players who have health concerns or are returning to sport after illness or injury.

Jo's coaching style is relaxed and supportive, and her current focus is on inclusion and coaching women and girls, and on mixed-ability sessions for players with neurodiversity, long-term illness, disabilities, and is a longstanding LGBTQ+ ally 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

She works best with beginners, improvers, and intermediates — players who want to progress without pressure. Expect a calm, encouraging session built around what you want to get out of the game.

WHAT OUR PLAYERS SAY

“Finding a female squash coach for my daughter always felt out of reach. Courter changed that overnight. Suddenly there were real options, at venues we could actually get to, at times that worked. It's opened up a whole new side of the sport for her.”

“We booked our first squash session together as a couple and it went beyond our expectations... We left feeling confident enough to book a court ourselves and excited to make squash a regular part of our routine.”
